Draft a records request You send it yourself

Claude drafts a Texas Public Information Act request. You fill in your details and send it yourself through the agency's records page.

Only the camera count near your spot and the boxes you tick are sent to Claude. A draft is a starting point, not legal advice.

About Grid Watch Sources, privacy and who makes it

Grid Watch shows where automated license-plate readers, including Flock Safety cameras, are mounted around Houston, so you can see what is on your own streets.

Where the data comes from

• Camera locations are mapped by volunteers in OpenStreetMap (ODbL). The site keeps a saved copy and checks for a newer one about once a day. It is incomplete and is not an official inventory. If you spot a missing camera, you can add it to OpenStreetMap.
• Facing cones appear only where a volunteer recorded a direction. They are not real coverage areas.
• Flights come from community receivers: adsb.lol (ODbL), with adsb.fi as a backup. Aircraft that don't broadcast or ask to be hidden don't appear.
• Crashes and road hazards come from Houston Police dispatch, as listed on the City of Houston's public Active Incidents page. Only traffic calls are shown; medical, fire and crime calls are left out. Each one is shown in the middle of its hundred block, never at the house number dispatch gives, so a pin can be off by up to a block. Calls that can't be placed with confidence are listed but not pinned.
• Bayou levels come from U.S. Geological Survey real-time gauges.
• Address search goes through this site to the U.S. Census Bureau geocoder for street addresses and Photon (OpenStreetMap) for places. Searches are not stored.
• Basemap from OpenFreeMap in Grid Watch's own style, drawn with MapLibre.
• Satellite imagery from USGS The National Map (public domain).

What Claude does here

• Area report: Claude writes a short summary from camera counts worked out in your browser.
• Records request: Claude drafts a Texas Public Information Act request you edit and send.
• Tiny City's reporter line may be polished by Claude from live gauge numbers.
• Ask the map: your question goes to Claude, which only picks a map action. The numbers in the answer are counted in your browser from the map's data.
• All of these are written by an AI model and can contain mistakes.

Privacy

• Your location, if you share it, stays in your browser. It is never sent to this site's server.
• The report and request send only counts and the options you tick. No accounts, no database, no ad trackers.
• Your drawings and any file you add stay in this browser. A share link carries your drawings inside the link itself; nothing is stored on a server.

What this is not

• Not affiliated with Flock Safety, any camera maker or any police department.
• Not an emergency tool. In an emergency, call 911.
